Plot summary
Off the coast of Hampton Bay, Florida, a large tiger shark has appeared while the town gets ready for its yearly Regatta. A diver's body washes ashore, and after an autopsy the police chief, Francis Berger, and the fish expert Bill Morrison conclude that a shark attacked him. Samuel Lewis, a developer, and Mayor Godfrey refuse to delay the celebration. Dag Snerensen keeps an aquarium in the town with his sons Bob and Larry, and Lewis wants it shut down because of months of unpaid rent. Berger argues again with the mayor about the beaches, but the Regatta goes ahead as planned.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Cruel Jaws (1995)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Cruel Jaws was made so cheaply that it reused footage from all four Jaws films, plus the Italian shark movies Deep Blood, which supplied basically the entire climax, and Great White.
- Michael Morahan is the credited composer, but the film's soundtrack is entirely stock music; one piece, Excellence by Wolfgang Kafer, notoriously uses the Star Wars theme.
- Scream Factory planned a Blu-ray double feature of Cruel Jaws and Exterminators of the Year 3000, but canceled it over the film's unauthorized use of footage from Jaws and other shark movies.
