Plot summary
At 16, Kayla Adams is expelled from school, and a counselor tells her mother, Karen, that a youth residential treatment center could help. Karen takes the advice and sends her to a facility in Utah, where she arrives the same day as Amanda Scheff, her new roommate. Amanda has been through treatment programs before and knows what the girls are in for. Miss Connie runs the place, and her staff keep order with forced medication, solitary confinement and physical and verbal abuse. The students have no free contact with anyone outside the facility. Kayla and Amanda band together to survive.
