Plot summary
Five years on from the television series, Dog River, Saskatchewan faces a crisis. Mayor Fitzy has sunk the town's money into a Detroit real estate deal, and there is no electricity or water. A clause in Sergeant Davis Quinton's contract forces him to retire, so he leaves Wanda Dollard to watch his house, and she turns the garage into an illegal bar. Karen Pelly writes tickets to improve her record, and Oscar Leroy becomes a survivalist. Brent Leroy buys the town's closed bar and enters Dog River in the Quaintest Town in Canada contest, whose $75,000 prize could cover the bills. Lacey Burrows, who owns the diner The Ruby, would move away if the town fails. Hank Yarbo wants to bring a Coff-Nuts franchise to town, and Brent refuses to back him.
