Plot summary
Teddy Murretto, a con artist and fixer, is running for his life when the unmarked police car he is driving gives out near Gun Creek, Nevada. The people he has been working for want him dead. When rookie officer Valerie Young breaks up a fight outside a casino, Murretto punches her on purpose, a move meant to land him in a cell and out of his pursuers' reach. Hitman Bob Viddick takes a different route into the same small-town station, posing as a drunk driver. Locked up in separate cells, Viddick lets Murretto know who he is, and Young is caught between the two men.

- Screenwriter Kurt McLeod sued Zero Gravity Management in March 2022, saying he was told the budget would be $3 million to $10 million but it grew to about $43.5 million after Gerard Butler joined. A federal judge rejected his claims in January 2024.
- Frank Grillo said director Joe Carnahan's cut of Copshop was rejected in favour of a different version that did not include as much of Grillo's performance.
- Copshop debuted to $2.3 million in the United States and Canada, the second-worst opening of all time for a film playing in more than 3,000 theaters.
- Copshop's shoot was shut down on October 2 after three crew members tested positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic, and filming had resumed by October 5.
- Copshop was the first produced screenplay for Kurt McLeod, who works as a financial advisor in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
