Plot summary
Police detective Ben Walls is called back to duty while on leave after a bombing at a women's health clinic in Atlanta. At the scene, a second blast knocks him out. He wakes in a hospital and Captain Miller tells him to stay in bed. Walls wants to reach his wife and return to work, so he dresses and leaves his room. Most of the hospital stands empty; a nurse says staff have been sent to a large fire in the city. She points him toward the chapel, where Miller sits with Ester, Jude and Isaac. Walls calls his wife, but the call cuts off, and the hospital doors are locked. A security guard, Peter Grayson, offers help, then an attacker in a paramedic's uniform shoots Grayson. Walls chases the attacker and is knocked unconscious without seeing his face.
