Plot summary
Babylon, Florida, is a small town where sixteen-year-old Margaret Larkin goes missing. Her body is found in the black water of the Styx River, tied to her bicycle, and a mysterious assailant is responsible for her murder. Ten years before, her mother and father disappeared from their boat on that same river. A killer is at large among the people of Babylon, and suspicion falls on Nathan Redfield, a duplicitous banker, and on his wealthy father, James Redfield. Evelyn Larkin is Margaret's grandmother.
