Did you know?!Facts and trivia about American Mary (2012)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- American Mary has no postproduction visual effects at all: every effect is practical, and many of Mary's patients were played by members of the real-life body modification community.
- Jen and Sylvia Soska wrote the role of Mary specifically for Katharine Isabelle, and drafted the script while they were trying to sell their earlier film Dead Hooker in a Trunk. It mirrors some of their own experiences in the film industry, such as meeting sleazy people who seem reputable at first.
