Plot summary
Vanessa Manning's son Kareem has no use for her new boyfriend, a Detroit police officer named James Coffee. Kareem lost his father to cancer and sets out to split the couple up. Hoping to drive Coffee away for good, he approaches Orlando Johnson, a fugitive, about taking care of the officer. The meeting goes wrong: Kareem witnesses a shooting and draws the attention of a criminal network, which turns his family into a target. With Vanessa in danger, Kareem and Coffee, the partner he never asked for, have to rely on each other while a chase carries them across Detroit.
