Plot summary
Quinn Maybrook and her father Glenn arrive in Kettle Springs, Missouri, where Glenn has taken a job as the town doctor, and the two are still strained after the death of Quinn's mother. On her first day of school she meets Cole Hill and his friends Janet, Matt, Ronnie and Tucker, who show her a horror video they made about Frendo, the clown mascot of the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. The factory burned down, and many in town blame the teenagers for it. The sheriff warns Quinn to stay away from the group. At the Founders' Day festival a Frendo float catches fire, and a clown figure begins appearing in the cornfields around town.
