Plot summary
A vagabond arriving in New York wanders the poorer quarters of the city and meets Danny Kenny, a young man with a talent for boxing and no wish to make it a profession. Danny's girlfriend, Peggy Nash, is a skilled dancer who dreams of stardom. Danny once won a Golden Gloves title in New York, but he drives a truck for a living. He boxes professionally as Young Samson so that his brother Eddie can attend music school, and he climbs the welterweight rankings. At a dance club, Murray Burns, a local dancing champion, invites Peggy to become his professional partner and belittles Danny. Peggy accepts, and her own career advances rapidly.
