Plot summary
To save his failing theater, Kirby Sweetman needs $200,000 within weeks, and the man he owes is the father of his late fiancée, Annie, who blames him for her death. The collector Mr. Bellinger offers that sum for one print: La Fin Absolue du Monde, made by Hans Backovic thirty years before, whose only screening at a Catalan festival ended in a riot that killed four viewers and drove the rest insane. In a hidden room Bellinger keeps a chained, pale man and a pair of angel wings he calls props from the film. Sweetman's search starts with A.K. Meyers, the critic who reviewed it.
