Chris Britton

Biography

Chris Britton is a Canadian actor of film, television, stage and voice work. Born and raised in Toronto, he took up acting as a teenager and graduated from York University. Early on he appeared with the Stratford and Shaw Festivals over a couple of seasons and acted in regional theaters around Canada, later studying with Uta Hagen in New York. He is known for voicing Mister Sinister in X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97, and he dubbed Soichiro Yagami for the English version of Death Note (2017) and its live-action counterpart. His screen credits include a crazed critic in John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns (2005), The Final Cut (2004), Nightwatching, The Day After Tomorrow and Godsend, plus recurring roles on Da Vinci's Inquest and Da Vinci's City Hall. He narrated the video game Dino Crisis II, and two of his screenplays earned fellowships in the Praxis Screenwriting Competition.

Britton belonged to the Judy Jarvis Dance Company for a short time. That company was among the first modern dance companies in Toronto.

Britton earned a BFA in theater from York University. As an undergraduate there, he taught a course about Edward Gordon Craig's life and work as an associate fellow of Stong College.
