Plot summary
Matt Cunningham has inherited a farm near the village of Cobbledon, and he takes his five children there for Christmas. A pitch at work still has to be finished, and his boss, Ms Fletcher, is not making it easy, so he means to treat the farm as a place to get the job done. Beano, the farm hand, keeps the children entertained, Miss Womble of the knitting circle helps them settle in, and the vet Miss Ashley gets on well with Matt. Miss Nerris, the village teacher, believes lessons can happen anywhere. The children would rather stay on the farm for good.
