Plot summary
Laurel Couper works as a business executive in Chicago. Her work brings her to Memphis, where she aims to secure a bank that has belonged to one family for generations. In Memphis she reunites with Clay Sheppard, a music promoter and the man she once performed with. The two once worked as a duo on the brink of stardom. Clay has ambitions of his own in music, and he proves persuasive as he reminds Laurel of the days when they played together. Laurel tries to keep her attention on the acquisition she came for, but the music they made together stays with her, and her focus turns back to performing.
