Plot summary

Rowena, who goes by Ro, lives with her mother Carolina and her older sister Gabby, and this is her first Christmas since her parents split. Her father Mike brings his girlfriend Diane and her son Louie, and her uncles Gerry and Bruce and her grandparents Sofia and Hector join them. The morning falls apart: Louie scares her awake, the dog Olive soils her baseball glove, Bruce slips on wrapping paper, and Louie keeps shutting off the hockey game. Ro argues with the family and storms outside, where a tall Santa hears that her holiday is going badly. She wishes to begin the day again, and he grants it, though her mother does not believe the encounter. The next morning, Christmas has returned.
