Plot summary
Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb receives word that Shivaji has died, and while he grants that a formidable enemy is gone, he calls for a celebration. His courtiers are sure the Maratha Confederacy will soon fall apart. Shivaji's son Sambhaji, his successor, takes over the resistance instead. He strikes Burhanpur, a key Mughal province, and the city's defenders are caught off guard. When Aurangzeb hears of the assault, he sees the Maratha resistance still stands and launches a large military campaign.
