Plot summary
Ray and Sal were orphans until Matt Tomley and Laura Tomley took them in and brought them to a luxury apartment building in downtown New York, where dogs are forbidden. The sisters take in a Great Dane puppy and call him Chestnut. Their new parents must not find out about him, so the girls keep Chestnut hidden. The city pound is a further danger, since a dog taken there is put down.
