Plot summary
Zoe Adler is a shy, eccentric computer animator living and working in San Francisco. She loves the pop music of the 1970s and 1980s and is infatuated with a co-worker, Andrew. After an evening of drinks with colleagues, a stranger forces her into her car and steers her into a police officer on a bicycle, killing him. The stranger escapes, and the police and her defense lawyer both doubt her account of the night. Charged with murder, she is placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, required to complete a repetitive list of tasks or risk jail. Homebound, she looks for a way to clear her name.
