Plot summary
Rebecca Riley lost her sight in a car accident while her boyfriend John was driving under the influence, and the crash has strained their relationship. Word arrives from Marku, an estate agent in Albania: her biological mother, Lavinia Whateley, has died and left Rebecca a castle. John wants to sell the place and leave; Rebecca wants to know the mother who gave her up. John has invited four people along, among them Shelly, whom he has been flirting with, and The Professor, who studies the occult at Miskatonic University. In the castle Rebecca hears strange sounds and has visions that John dismisses, and only The Professor believes her.
