Plot summary
When his wife Diane comes down with a stomach bug, Daniel Miller has to drive the neighborhood children to school, which is a problem, since he is pitching a campaign to Hammerman's, a chain of gourmet markets. His sons Bucky and Andrew ride along with Kayla, her little sister Chelsea and a local boy named Travis. Franklin Laszlo's Laszlo Brothers Carnival is failing, and he has resolved to rob a store to keep it open. He picks the same Hammerman's where Daniel is buying pastries. Two other armed men, Neil and Jerry, choose that market as well, and their holdup brings Franklin and an off-duty detective, Erdman, into a standoff. Franklin comes out of it with the money from the safe and leaves with Daniel and the children still in the van.
