Plot summary
Carl Fredricksen is at home training Dug when the phone rings. It is Ms. Meyers, a friend who lives at the nursing home. Carl says yes to something and regrets it as soon as he hangs up, because he has just agreed to a date with her. He admits to Dug that he is nervous and out of practice; since Ellie died, he has been on his own, and dating does not work the way he remembers. He asks Dug for advice, and most of the tips that come back are things that suit a dog. Carl goes out and comes home with several boxes of chocolate, and he cuts flowers from his own garden. Dug helps him rehearse a dance and a dinner.
