Plot summary
Sy Lerner works in the movie business, and the people he has dealt with say his schemes have cost them a great deal of money. At the Cannes Film Festival he makes a wager with another executive: he can pluck a stranger off the street and pass that person off as a success. The stranger is Frank Rhinoslavsky, a part-time cab driver from New York who has come to Cannes to deliver props and hopes to get into films as a writer. Sy coaches him on how to dress and behave, and on answering questions vaguely, and then bills him as the writer of a new picture. No such picture exists and Frank has written nothing. Even so, directors, producers and actors line up to meet the man now known as Frank Rhino.
