Plot summary

Marcus, a businessman from Edinburgh, takes his childhood friend Vaughn to a village in the Scottish Highlands for a weekend of hunting. Vaughn's fiancée is newly pregnant. An evening at a village pub brings them into contact with Logan, who leads the community, and with the young women Kara and Iona. Marcus leaves with Kara against a warning to stay away, while Vaughn and Iona nearly kiss before he speaks of his fiancée; the two sit up drinking at her parents' bar. Hungover the next morning, Vaughn finds he has brought no ammunition for his rifle and borrows one of Marcus's guns. In the woods, a deer comes into view and Vaughn's shot strikes someone he never saw. Marcus tells him the police would take them for murderers, and the two drive off.
