Plot summary
Katya Korolyova comes from a good Moscow family, and her philology studies have earned her a grant to work on the archives of the poet Vladislav Khodasevich in Paris. Her mother is not told, and she flies instead to Abu Dhabi to start a modeling career, where she finds herself among the girls brought in to please Arab sheikhs for money. A scandal ends the trip and the group is sent back to Russia. In Moscow, Katya joins Liza and Galya, two friends from the provinces who teach her how the pursuit of rich, often married men works. The three women share a plan for security and luxury.
