Plot summary
Trevor is fifteen when an unseen alien presence takes him from his own backyard. He spends close to twenty years fighting other abductees in a no-holds-barred mixed martial arts arena on an unearthly site, and the boy taken that day grows into a hardened fighter. Derrick Bauer, a lawyer who chases ambulances for a living, is the newest abductee brought into the arena, and he is matched against Trevor. Week after week and month after month the two men exchange beatings inside the cage. There is no explanation for the abductions and no sign of who or what is behind them.
