Plot summary
Vincent Potter runs Britannia Hospital, which is preparing a gala anniversary and a visit from royalty. Outside, demonstrators protest the presence of a VIP patient, an African dictator. Ancillary workers are on strike over what the private patients expect to eat, and Professor Millar, head of the new wing, refuses to cooperate. Rather than call the visit off, Potter goes out to reason with the protest leader and agrees to eject the private patients so that some ambulances may pass. Mick Travis works as a reporter and is making a secret documentary about the hospital. A sympathetic nurse gets him inside, and he starts looking into Professor Millar's experiments.
