Plot summary
In the late Third Age, Sauron's power grows, and his Orcs search the north for the surviving bloodline of Elendil, which the Dúnedain keep alive. Orcs attack the village of Dirhael, his wife Ivorwen and their daughter Gilraen, who flee and are ambushed on a forest road. Rangers led by Arathorn save them and bring them to Taurdal, where Arathorn's father Arador is Chieftain of the Dúnedain. Rings looted from the dead Orcs leave Arathorn and Arador without an answer to what the raiders want.
