Plot summary
Camp Serenity sits on a remote island in Fiji, a rehabilitation program for troubled teenagers run by Dr. Arthur Hail. Parents are told it is a deluxe facility in a beautiful setting. There are no walls, but the surrounding sea makes escape impractical, and new arrivals wear sensor cuffs on their ankles that alert security. Hail puts the teenagers to work cleaning, planting, and rebuilding after a storm. Campers wear color-coded shirts, black at first and yellow later, until a white shirt marks them as corrected staff who oversee the others. Sophie's boyfriend Ben fakes a drug problem so he can be enrolled too and search for her.
