Plot summary
Bob McIntosh walks across the street on New Year's Eve to ask a neighbor's party to be quieter, and he is found injured on the ground. He dies on the way to the hospital, and the death, first taken for a heart attack, is ruled a murder. His widow Katy wants the person responsible found. Detective Paul Jackson takes the case, but the teenage boys who were at the party and their parents refuse to talk, and many in the community treat Katy as the one at fault for accusing young people they believe are innocent. Katy keeps pressing, certain that someone in that group knows what happened to Bob.
