Plot summary
Wendy works part time at a mountainous state park over the summer. Near the end of the season she takes on a rough trail assignment, wanting to show her friends that she is capable of the job. She makes a wrong turn and wanders deep into the backcountry, where she comes upon what may be a crime scene. Her radio is gone, so she cannot reach anyone. She is told to remain at the site and guard it, staying through the night until the authorities arrive. With no way to call for help, she has to fight the urge to run.
