Plot summary
Katie Gregerstitch and her fiancé Billy grew up together in Minden, Oklahoma, and planned to marry. Billy, who hopes to model, heads for New York City and says he will come home within half a year. Katie's grandfather hands her a bus ticket so she can surprise Billy on Valentine's Day, and she arrives to find another woman in his bed. Billy calls the wedding off. Katie stays with her cousin Haley, an actress chasing her first break, who urges Katie to build a life of her own. Katie fills in for Haley as a messenger, and a delivery brings her into a construction company's offices, where she gets to know Ben, a postman who works in the building, and Debra, the deputy director, who has designs on the chief executive's job.
