Plot summary
Marissa's father's old house, now a holiday home in a secluded spot, is where she and Jason have gathered their friends for a weekend. Shane, Ger, Lucy, Ray and Emma are among those who arrive. The weekend begins on the eve of a mysterious fiery sinkhole opening close to the house, a hole that local people have named the Gates of Hell. As the weekend goes on, some of the friends behave in ways that do not fit them, and a few of them become very amorous.
