Plot summary
Seven months after their father vanished, Gordon and John Hardesty meet at his video store to clear out the stock. Gordon stays at their father's house, where his girlfriend Margot joins him. That night Gordon wakes to a noise and a shadow in the street, then spots a key labeled Office on a shelf. The brothers search the office the next day and discover a VCR board game named Beyond the Gates, its tape still loaded in the machine. The woman on the tape, Evelyn, asks whether they will risk their souls to play.
