Plot summary
In a Brazilian studio, a crew dubs an American television series into Portuguese. Mary Matos works there as a voice and dreams of becoming a Hollywood star. Her neighbor and best friend, Dalila, works at the same studio. Wallace Caldeira is a married man and Mary's lover; he promises to leave his family and take her to the United States once his children are raised. Pompeu, the studio's dubbing director, falls in love with her and promises to direct a film starring her. An American newspaper advertisement seeks an actress of her profile.
