Plot summary
The family home in Cova do Vapor, a neighborhood of precarious housing where the Tagus meets the Atlantic, doubles as a stopover for migrants, since Vítor and Fernanda forge the passports they need. Fernanda is Vítor's Andalusian ex-wife; she came back after ten years, runs the gang and has no wish to settle. Liza, his Russian wife, stays on beside him though she cannot bring herself to leave. Vítor has to choose between the two women. Mauro, his six-year-old son, has stopped talking. Newcomers from Eastern Europe arrive with business ideas that unsettle the household, its relationships and the plans of its residents.
