Plot summary
Katelyn Parks was ten when her mother went into the basement of the family's lighthouse home in Henderson Bay, Maine, and was found dying there. Her father, Christopher, was convicted of the killing, and Katelyn was placed in foster care out of town. Twenty years later a letter brings her back to the lighthouse she swore never to see again. Henderson Bay is broke, and deputy mayor Drew Cabot has arranged a deal with a contractor to turn the abandoned lighthouse into a tourist attraction. Father Hendry cannot persuade the town council to veto the project. Someone from Katelyn's past warns her to stop the work, without saying why, and then some of the developers begin to disappear.
