Beautiful Beings (2022) on Netflix

Plot summary

Balli is fourteen and lives in a Reykjavík suburb; his father is dead, his stepfather is in prison, and his mother and sister are often absent. Boys at school bully him, and a group of them attacks him on his way home. He fights back, and the injury he takes to his face leaves him wearing a mask. Addi, a schoolmate, sees a news report about the attack, and the next day he and his friends take Balli in: Siggi, who is wild and impulsive, and Konni, who is nicknamed The Animal for his love of fighting. Addi's mother believes she is clairvoyant and shares her dreams with him, which he dismisses. Konni then learns that an older boy intends to beat him and asks Addi for help.
