Plot summary
María and Ingvar keep a flock of sheep on an isolated farm in Iceland, and they have no children. Something that breathes heavily passes a herd of horses and enters a barn. Then one of the couple's pregnant sheep delivers a newborn with a human body, a lamb's head and a lamb's right arm. María and Ingvar carry the infant inside and raise her as their daughter, giving her the name Ada, after the daughter they lost. The sheep that birthed her is parted from her young and lingers outside the couple's house, trying to reach the girl. Ingvar's brother Pétur turns up at the farmhouse.
