Plot summary

In a near-future Gotham City, crime is out of control. Bruce Wayne, 55, gave up the cape ten years earlier after the death of his sidekick Jason Todd; he now lives as a recluse, giving to charity and keeping company with Commissioner James Gordon, who knows his secret. A gang called the Mutants terrorizes the city, and their brutality drives Bruce to become Batman again. His return divides the public: many approve, while the Mayor of Gotham City and Dr. Bartholomew Wolper, head psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, call him a fascist. Harvey Dent, once Two-Face, has had his face repaired by surgery, and his good side is gone.
