Plot summary
Long before he patrols Gotham City, Bruce Wayne studies martial arts at Nanda Parbat, a hidden monastery in the Hindu Kush, under the caretaker O-Sensei and alongside Shiva, Richard Dragon, Jade, Ben Turner and Rip Jagger. O-Sensei gives Shiva charge of Soul Breaker, a Muramasa sword, and says nothing about a barred door at the monastery's outer perimeter. Years afterward, Richard finds that Jeffrey Burr, a millionaire who heads the Kobra cult, holds the gate, so he travels to Gotham to seek Bruce's aid. The Axe Gang, mercenaries in the pay of Schlangenfaust, attack the pair. Bruce and Richard go to Chinatown to tell Shiva, and Schlangenfaust takes the sword in the confusion.
