Plot summary
Eddie Ryan is an abrasive Irish detective with the New York City police. A scuffle with a Puerto Rican suspect ends with the man falling from a rooftop to his death, and Ryan has to hand over his badge. Losing it does not slow him. He sets out on his own to learn who killed Gigi Caputo, his partner of three years, and the work keeps him away from Maureen, the girlfriend who has just moved in with him.
