Plot summary
Jacob van Oppen, an East German and one-time strongest man on earth, travels through small South American towns with his manager Orsini, a thin, dapper businessman who styles himself the Prince. Together they earn a living by putting on wrestling exhibitions in run-down theaters, and Jacob, a huge and unruly man, can be soothed only by the song Lili Marleen. In Santa Maria the pair finds a warmer welcome than usual: the paper offers to back a fight, townspeople hang posters, and a public call goes out for someone able to face Jacob. Orsini is skilled at lining up the right opponent, though the town may hold a bigger catch than he bargained for.
