Plot summary
In the Earth year 2257, humans and several alien peoples gather at a new station in neutral space. Babylon 5 exists so that the five major spacefaring races, humans, Narn, Centauri, Minbari and Vorlons, can settle their disputes. Commander Jeffrey Sinclair runs the station. Everyone is waiting for Kosh, the Vorlon ambassador, the last of the four to arrive. Kosh arrives two days early and falls ill almost at once, apparently poisoned. Dr. Kyle works to keep him alive, and Security Chief Michael Garibaldi begins an investigation.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Babylon 5: The Gathering (1993)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The character Delenn was originally meant to be male and to become female at the end of season one, but the plan was dropped because they could not make Mira Furlan's voice sound male enough.
- Tamlyn Tomita's lines in the original pilot had been completely redubbed because the studio thought she sounded too harsh; the new edition of the film restored her original performance.
- The pilot's original music, composed by Stewart Copeland, was replaced with a score by Christopher Franke, who went on to compose the music for the rest of the Babylon 5 series, played by the Berliner Symphoniker.
- Johnny Sekka played the pilot's medical officer, Dr. Benjamin Kyle, but his failing health kept him from continuing in the series, so the role was recast as Dr. Stephen Franklin, played by Richard Biggs.
