Plot summary
With Kida on the throne and Milo living beside her, the Heart of Atlantis is put to work restoring the city to its old splendor. Milo's former comrades and Preston Whitmore reach Atlantis unannounced. The Atlanteans welcome their friends, but the visitors have come to tell them that something on the surface is causing trouble, and Kida wonders whether the creature is Atlantean, which leaves her torn over her father's choice to keep the crystal hidden. The group sets out for Trondheim, Norway, where freighters have been attacked and their cargo carried to a village on a cliff by a creature called the Kraken. They suppose it is a war machine left behind by the Atlanteans.
