Plot summary
Jerome, a suburban teenager who has drawn since childhood, enrolls as a freshman drawing major at New York City's Strathmore School of Art, hoping to meet girls. His roommates are Vince, an aspiring filmmaker, and Matthew, a fashion major. Jerome forms a friendship with Bardo, a perennial dropout who shows him around, and meets Jimmy, a Strathmore graduate now a failed artist and a belligerent drunk. The faculty and students are consumed by competition and jealousy, with a best-student award as the prize. Jerome falls for Audrey, an art model and the daughter of a famous pop artist, but a classmate named Jonah draws attention with primitive work of his own. A serial killer called the Strathmore Strangler is killing people on or near the campus.
