Plot summary
Two workers help Dr. Karen James tag the resident octopus at the Shining Sea Aquarium. It goes into cardiac arrest, appears to die, then revives, attacks Karen, kills both workers and slips into the ducts. Miranda Riley, an aquarium scientist, hears from the Eden Wildlife Zoo, which warns her to dispose of a shipment of epinephrine; her colleague Daniel Hanley says he handled it. Daniel heads off to show Skylar, a visitor, around on a V.I.P. tour. Miranda sits down with Senator Bailey Blackburn, who is working to secure funds for the facility, and Karen interrupts with news of the octopus; security chief Eddie "Clu" Cluwirth is told of the breach. The slime the octopus left behind spreads to the other animals, which break out of their tanks.
