Plot summary
Bloodied and disoriented after the events at Honey Island Swamp, Marybeth Dunston walks into the Jefferson Parish police station carrying Victor Crowley's scalp and is taken into custody. Sheriff Fowler, who learns of the carnage in the swamp, treats her as his prime suspect for the murders, and she swears she is innocent. His ex-wife Amanda, a journalist versed in the Crowley legend, interviews her and tells her that Victor is cursed to relive one night over and over, and that only Marybeth can stop him, since her bloodline ties her to her father Sampson, who had a hand in the fire that killed Victor when he was young. Fowler sets out for the swamp with paramedics and firefighters, and Amanda talks Deputy Winslow into releasing Marybeth.
