Plot summary
Ed and Lorraine Warren take the possessed doll Annabelle from two nurses and seal her inside a case of sacred glass in the room where they keep cursed objects, with a priest's blessing on it. A year passes. The couple must travel overnight for a case, so Mary Ellen comes to stay with their daughter Judy, who is about to turn ten and whose classmates have turned down her birthday invitations. Mary Ellen's friend Daniela Rios arrives without being asked; she wants to reach her dead father and apologize for the car crash that killed him. She slips into the room, opens the case, and picks the doll up.
