Plot summary
Paul Asher works as a journalist and has just returned from covering the war in Afghanistan. His marriage is in trouble, and he is dealing with a personal crisis whose shape he does not yet grasp. A soldier he got to know during the war is having a hard time since leaving the service, and Paul is trying hard to help him. Then Paul receives an offer of an interview he finds impossible to turn down. The person he is to interview says he is God. The conversation puts pressure on Paul's faith and on his view of the world, at a moment when both are already under strain.
