Plot summary
Blake Cunningham and his mother, an alcoholic, come to Clemonte Hall in 1960s England. The manor is vast and stands alone in the countryside. His grandfather is dying and keeps to the attic room, so the two of them have come to look after him. Before long, ghostly events disturb the house, and a heavy dread settles over everyone inside. The old man's sickness does not appear ordinary. Something supernatural may lie behind it. If that is so, the only way to help him is to uncover what happened in the manor long ago and to face whatever dark truth it hides.
